The Pyramids Club submitted an official complaint to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) against Mauritanian referee Dahan Beida, against the backdrop of deliberate refereeing errors and adverse decisions witnessed in the team’s match against the Royal Army, in the second leg of the African Champions League quarter-finals.

Pyramids complains to the referee of the Royal Army match

The Pyramids club confirmed in its complaint that the referee caused clear injustice to the team, and was one of the main reasons for the loss and exit from the tournament, pointing out that he overlooked the awarding of two clear penalty kicks in favor of the Pyramids.

Pyramids explained that the first case came in the first half, and despite its clarity and review via video technology, the referee surprisingly refused to count it. In the second half, the referee ignored the award of another penalty kick in favor of player Youssef Obama, after he was obstructed inside the penalty area, without resorting to video technology.

The club added that the referee allowed the Royal Army players to waste time without making decisive decisions, and did not compensate for the wasted time fairly, in addition to not providing adequate protection for the Pyramids players from strong interventions.

Pyramids concluded its complaint by demanding that an urgent investigation be opened with the referee and the arbitration team, due to the decisions that directly affected the outcome of the match and led to the team’s exit from the tournament.
