Qatar Energy announced today, Wednesday, that it has notified procurement customers affected by the decision to stop production Natural gas liquefied liquid and its related products, by activating the state of “Force Majeure”, following its previous announcement regarding the suspension of production.

Notifying Qatar Energy customers of the temporary suspension of contractual obligations

The company explained that declaring force majeure is a legal measure that allows the supplier to temporarily suspend or cancel its contractual obligations upon the occurrence of events beyond control, such as conflicts, disasters, or attacks that impede the implementation of contracts. This measure would affect some shipments heading to Asian and European markets that depend on Qatari supplies, whether through long-term contracts or spot deals.

Qatar Energy affirmed its appreciation for its relations with all concerned parties, stressing its continued communication and providing partners with developments and available information.

Ras Laffan City is the industrial heart of the gas sector in Qatar, as it includes huge facilities for liquefying, storing and loading liquefied natural gas, and is managed in partnership between Qatar Energy and a number of international partners.

Qatar is also classified among the largest exporters of liquefied natural gas in the world, with a production capacity exceeding 77 million tons annually, with expansion plans to raise the capacity to more than 120 million tons in the coming years, within the framework of the North Field expansion project.
