condemned Al-Azhar Al-Sharif strongly condemned the Zionist occupation’s continued closure of the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, in a blog post published on its official pages on social media platforms, in which he said: “The occupation’s continued closure of the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque – the first of the two qiblahs and the third of the two holy mosques – during the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, and even today, is considered an unacceptable and immoral assault, as it entails confiscation of the rights of Palestinians to perform the rituals of their religion, and a provocation to the feelings of Muslims around the world. “A flagrant violation of international law.”

Al-Azhar Al-Sharif called on the international community to confront these systematic hostile acts, through which the occupation seeks to transform the region into a sustainable arena for wars and conflicts, stressing that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque was and will remain – God Almighty willing – a purely Islamic sanctuary, to which the occupier has no right, despite his futile attempts to impose temporal and spatial division on it, and his plans to Judaize the landmarks of Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Palestinian state.
