The prices of poultry and eggs in the Egyptian markets witnessed a noticeable decline today, Tuesday, March 24, 2026, by a value of up to 5 pounds, following the end of Eid al-Fitr, as a result of the decline in purchasing demand and the trend of a large segment of consumers towards purchasing fresh fish, herring, and fesikh.

Mahmoud Al-Anani, head of the poultry division, said that the prices of poultry and eggs fell by approximately 10% during the past days, affected by a state of relative calm in demand within the market.

He explained, in a statement to Cairo 24, that the markets are currently witnessing an increase in the supply of poultry in exchange for a decline in demand, which has been directly reflected in prices, both on farms and for the final consumer.

He pointed out that this decline is a natural result of a temporary imbalance between supply and demand, as weak purchasing activity prompted producers and merchants to lower prices with the aim of stimulating the market and stimulating sales.

He added that the market is going through a state of relative stagnation during the current period, expecting a gradual return to balance as consumption rates improve in the coming days.
