Earlier, the US Central Command announced that a limited fire had broken out on board the US aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford while it was in the Red Sea, stressing that the fire had been contained without affecting the ship’s operational readiness.
The command explained in a statement that the fire broke out in the main laundry rooms on board the carrier on March 12, noting that the cause of the fire was not related to any combat operations.
