The Ministry of Health issued a statement about the repercussions of the fire that occurred in a shopping center in New Damietta, within the framework of direct directives and follow-up from Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, to check on the health status of the injured and ensure that all aspects of medical care are provided to them.
The Ministry confirmed that the Ambulance Authority sent 16 equipped ambulances to the fire site immediately after receiving the report, where the 32 injured were immediately dealt with and transferred to the governorate’s hospitals. All cases were dealt with according to the highest standards of medical care, with specialized medical teams and nursing staff available around the clock.

The Ministry explained that the accident resulted in 3 deaths, noting that the injuries ranged from bruises, abrasions, superficial wounds, and minor fractures, and the health condition of the majority of the injured was stable, as 18 injured had already left hospitals after their health condition improved and they received the necessary treatment, and the remaining cases are still receiving the necessary care under careful medical observation until complete recovery.
In this context, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar continues to monitor developments in the health condition of the injured on an ongoing basis, with instructions to raise the level of preparedness in all nearby hospitals, and to provide any additional medical or treatment needs immediately.
The Ministry of Health and Population extends its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased, asking God Almighty to cover them with His vast mercy, and to inspire their families with patience and solace, while wishing a speedy recovery to all those injured.
The Ministry confirmed the continued close follow-up of all developments, and immediate dealing with any developments, within the framework of its full concern to preserve the health and safety of citizens.
