Sony in Japan announced the suspension of sales of some CFexpress and SD memory cards, as a result of the continuing global semiconductor shortage crisis, with indications that the decision will extend to other markets after its site in the United States ran out of stock.
This decision directly affects camera users, especially those who rely on these cards in their work, such as filming events and professional videos.

This shortage is due in part to the growing demand for chips from AI data centers, coupled with high production and shipping costs, as well as geopolitical tensions that have affected energy resources and supply chains.
As a result, companies are moving to rearrange production priorities and focus on the most important and profitable sectors, which has led to the suspension of the availability of some products.
Affected cards include several CFexpress Type A and Type B models, as well as a range of SDXC and SDHC cards.
