At this time when we desperately need psychological support, Facebook has provided us with two new reactions through which we can express our gratitude to others. One will be available on its official application, and the other is for Messenger, bringing the number of available reactions to seven.
On Facebook, you will see a new reaction with an emoji in the form of a yellow smiley face hugging a heart, which can be used to express emotional support as if it were a virtual desire to hug the person.
As for Facebook Messenger, a new reaction appears, which is a heart, but not in red, and around it is a beam as if it is beating. Facebook calls these new responses “interest emojis,” and they are the first addition to emojis that can be used as a response other than “likes” since the launch of this new method five years ago.
There is no information yet whether these new emojis will remain permanently on the platform, or whether they are temporary with regard to home confinement and the feelings of psychological distress that accompany it.
As usual, it has gradually begun to appear to users and can be used, as is the case with other reactions, and with all types of posts, including texts, photos, videos, and even messages, through the Facebook application on smartphones and its website.
We’re launching new Care reactions on @facebookapp and @Messenger As a way for people to share their support with one another during this unprecedented time.
We hope these reactions give people additional ways to show their support during the #COVID19 crisis. pic.twitter.com/HunGyK8KQw– Alexandru Voica (@alexvoica) April 17, 2020
