We are two months away from the official launch date of the OnePlus 16 phone, but recent reports have begun to reveal what to expect from this flagship phone, especially with regard to photography capabilities. Reliable leaks previously indicated in January 2026 that the phone would come equipped with a 200-megapixel sensor, so a new report came and hinted at the details of this sensor, which is expected to be the same camera that Realme relied on in its recent phones.

It is worth noting that the current flagship GT 8 Pro phone from Realme features a 200-megapixel telephoto periscope camera that provides 3x optical zoom. This phone relies on the HP5 sensor from Samsung, which is the same sensor used in other leading phones that focus on photography capabilities, such as the Find X9 Pro from Oppo.

Although the exact configuration of the periscope telephoto camera on the OnePlus 16 phone is not yet clear, there is a high probability that it matches the settings on the flagship Realme phone. To clarify, the Samsung HP5 Isocell sensor in the Realme phone comes paired with a lens with an aperture of f/2.6 and a focal length of 65 mm.

Recent reports also hinted that OnePlus will integrate this periscope camera with a 50-megapixel main camera and a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera, as these sensors are expected to remain unchanged from the current generation in the OnePlus 15 phone, which is available in a version that includes 12 GB of random memory and 256 GB of storage space at a price of about 653.20 US dollars, with more details about the upcoming flagship phone expected to appear soon.
