Lenovo has unveiled a prototype device at Mobile World Congress 2026, which looks like a future version of its discontinued flagship smartwatch. However, Lenovo’s Smart Work Companion concept moves from being a bedside gadget to a workspace tool with its productivity features and hub functions.

Lenovo announced a sleek concept device at Mobile World Congress 2026 that’s reminiscent of the basic Lenovo smartwatch. Dubbed Lenovo’s trapezoid-shaped Smart Work Companion concept, the device may look like a desk clock, but it actually does more than that.

Equipped with a screen, Lenovo’s Smart Work Companion concept displays the user’s schedule including tasks and appointments when synced with his or her device or devices. Additionally, it monitors the user’s screen time and suggests breaks, thus dually acting as a digital wellbeing device. Lenovo says it will even provide a detailed report on tasks completed at the end of each week.

Lenovo’s Smart Work Companion concept has a large red handle at the top that Lenovo says users can customize. The company doesn’t provide any examples, but we think it should at least be able to act as a volume knob. There is also a customizable button on the far right.

The device also doubles as a hub with an array of ports on the back including two HDMI ports for connecting dual displays, two USB-A ports (max. 7.5W), two USB-C ports (max. 7.5W), and an Ethernet port. There is also a 100W retractable cable that can be connected to a PC. On the right side, Lenovo’s Smart Business Companion concept has an audio jack, a 20W USB-C port, and a USB-A port. The device itself is powered by an IECC 7 power connector.

The images provided by Lenovo show that the watch face can be customized in the concept of a smart work companion. The device will also display additional information such as the amount of battery remaining in the connected laptop and the time remaining until it is fully charged. There’s also a quick actions menu that includes icons for apps like Calculator, Email, and GPT Chat, as well as actions like Cut, Paste, and Mute the microphone.

There’s no information yet on whether Lenovo’s Smart Work Companion concept will eventually be released commercially, but one can agree that it looks like a very useful tool.
