Away from its traditional devices, Lenovo surprised conference visitors by unveiling a prototype of a multitasking office device powered by artificial intelligence under the name AI Workmate Concept. This device is designed to be an always-on desk companion, receiving voice and motion commands and processing them locally. But the real magic lies in his lens; The device includes a projector capable of displaying a 1080p screen with a brightness of up to 200 lumens, and a size that extends up to 40 inches.
Although the details of the lens were not completely clear during the quick trial, Lenovo confirms that the device is designed to facilitate work tasks, such as scanning and summarizing documents, organizing notes, and assisting in preparing presentations. The device comes with two 5MP RGB Camera x2 lenses, which makes it an excellent webcam, and may open the door to advanced features such as 3D recording and AI-powered background isolation in video calls.
Looking at the specifications, we are facing a completely unconventional PC. The AI Workmate Concept model includes Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, 1TB NVMe SSD storage space, and a massive 64GB LPDDR5X RAM. It does not stop here, as it also contains a built-in 5.4-inch LCD screen, a quad microphone system, and two speakers, in addition to supporting the latest communication technologies via Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Lenovo has not announced pricing details or launch date yet. But the success of this project will depend largely on how practical it is; Not every user is willing to pay the cost of 64GB of RAM in a device that is supposed to be merely an “auxiliary” to his primary device, unless it can be used as a full-fledged computer in itself.
At the same time, the company showcased another model called the AI Work Companion Concept, which appears to be a simpler and more practical option for integration into current work environments, despite it lacking the attractiveness of the Projector and interactive design of the larger version.
