Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, made an inspection tour of the Verdi Foods factory for food industries, as part of the extensive field tour led by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, in the investment zone in the city of Benha, in the presence of the Minister of Industry, the Governor of Qalyubia, leaders of the General Authority for Investment, and heads of companies.
During the visit, Dr. Farid stressed that the ministry’s strategy focuses on transforming the comparative advantages of Egyptian agricultural crops into global competitive advantages through advanced manufacturing, noting that the “manufacturing for export” model represents the main driver for enhancing the balance of trade and settling food industries capable of competing globally according to the highest environmental and health standards.
The Minister, accompanied by the Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation, listened to a detailed explanation from Engineer Hossam Galal, Managing Director of the factory, who pointed out that the factory extends over an area of 1,800 square meters and specializes in processing, manufacturing, packing and preserving fruits, vegetables, legumes and pickles using the latest automatic operating systems.
The current production volume is about 3,000 tons per year with a daily production rate of 10 tons, with an expansion plan to raise the production capacity to 4,500 tons per year. The factory’s exports reach 95% of production, with a total value of about $3 million, which reflects the factory’s success in penetrating global markets.
The Minister concluded his statements by praising the factory model, stressing that the state strongly supports successful industrial companies, and that the Ministry will continue to provide all necessary facilities to support expansion plans, in a way that enhances the added value of Egyptian agricultural crops and supports export to international markets.
