OpenAI has made a new change to the way ChatGPT handles long texts, automatically converting any text over 5,000 characters into an attachment instead of inserting it directly into the text box, for Plus, Pro, and Business users.
This step aims to keep the writing interface more organized, and prevent large texts from consuming the entire context space. The feature also allows the user to easily return text to the field via the “Show in text field” option.

On the other hand, the company did not reveal additional details such as the availability of the feature by platform or gradual launch rates, nor did these changes include free users or Enterprise and Education accounts.
This change is expected to be noticed more by users who rely on pasting long texts such as notes, codes, or documents, as they will now be treated as attachments by default.
Although the update is simple, it changes one of the most common usage methods within ChatGPT, while maintaining the ability to manually control text display.
