Apple is testing several different designs for its upcoming smart glasses, according to a new report, as the company is developing at least four frame shapes with the aim of providing a product that features a luxurious design and high-quality materials. Apple seeks to excel in terms of design to compete with similar devices in the market.

The information indicates that the glasses will not be of the augmented reality category, but rather will come as a wearable device equipped with cameras, microphones, and sensors.

You will also be able to view notifications, take photos and videos, play music, and interact with artificial intelligence features such as improved Siri and visual analysis capabilities.

The glasses will depend on connecting to the iPhone to operate most of their functions, to be closer to a complementary accessory to the phone, similar to the integration provided by the Apple Watch and AirPods with the Apple system.

The designs Apple is testing include a large rectangular frame, a thinner rectangular frame, a larger oval or circular design, and a smaller, more elegant option of the same shape.

The company is also considering several colors such as black, ocean blue and light brown, with the aim of providing a distinctive and easily recognizable appearance.

In terms of design, the front cameras will come in an oval arrangement with indicator lights surrounding them, while Apple plans to use a luxurious and durable acetate material instead of traditional plastic, to give the glasses a more high-quality feel.

The glasses are expected to be announced later this year or early 2027, with the actual launch arriving during the spring or summer of 2027. These glasses fall within Apple’s plan to expand its devices based on artificial intelligence, along with other products under development.
