KeySmart is launching a new tracking card called SmartCard Gen 3, aiming to solve the most prominent problems of traditional tracking devices such as AirTag, most notably their large thickness and reliance on replaceable batteries.

The card has a thickness of no more than 1.8 mm, which is closer to the thickness of a metal credit card, which makes it suitable for placing it inside wallets without causing any annoying protrusion. In addition to the slim design, it supports wireless charging via the Qi standard, including MagSafe chargers, eliminating the need to change the battery manually.

The third version is based on an improved chip that provides faster connectivity to the Find My network and better energy efficiency. As a result, the battery life reaches about 11 months per charge instead of 8 months in the previous generation.

The card also supports IPX8 water resistance, includes a light indicator and audio alerts, and works with the Find My network in addition to Google Hub.

The card offers all the basic tracking features, like location display, stay-away alerts, and the ability to play a sound to help find it when you’re nearby. The flat design helps them be used inside purses, bags or luggage without adding noticeable thickness.

SmartCard Gen 3 is available in two colors, black and a transparent version called Ghost, and starts at $39 each, with multiple bundle options for less per card.
