Dr. Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, participated in the annual suhoor ceremony of the Horticultural Export Development Association “Haya” for the year 2026, in the presence of a large number of agricultural sector leaders and representatives of companies and institutions supporting the sector in Egypt.
The event was attended by a number of strategic sponsors and companies working in the fields of agriculture, agricultural processing, and services related to the sector, including Ferchem Fertilizers Company, Taiba Company, New Motors Company, and Tanta Motors Company, in addition to the Agricultural Crops Export Council, Daltex Rock Company, the Agricultural Bank of Egypt, and ABC Bank, as well as major international companies such as FMC, BASF, and Corteva Agriscience.

During his speech at the ceremony, the Minister of Agriculture stressed that the Egyptian agricultural export sector has become one of the main engines of economic growth and an important support for the provision of foreign currency, noting that many Egyptian horticultural crops achieve clear superiority in global markets.
Farouk explained that Egyptian citrus topped the list of agricultural exports with about 2 million tons, which strengthens Egypt’s position as the largest exporter of oranges in the world, pointing out that the diversity of Egyptian agricultural products and the increasing demand for them in international markets reflects the great development that the sector has witnessed over the past years.
The Minister of Agriculture indicated that this success comes as a result of continuous efforts undertaken by the Egyptian state to develop the agricultural export system in cooperation with the private sector, by supporting farmers, improving the quality of production, developing the agricultural quarantine system and reference laboratories, in addition to expanding the use of modern agricultural technologies and rationalizing the use of natural resources in a way that contributes to achieving agricultural sustainability.
He added that the government is working at the same time to provide an attractive climate for investment in the agricultural sector, through a set of incentive measures aimed at encouraging local and foreign investment in the fields of agricultural production, agricultural processing and export, thus contributing to increasing the added value of the agricultural product and opening new markets for Egyptian exports.
The Suhoor ceremony witnessed an atmosphere of communication and exchange of visions between representatives of the government, companies and institutions working in the agricultural sector, where discussions took place on ways to enhance joint cooperation and support initiatives and activities that contribute to the development of the agricultural export system in Egypt.
The attendees stressed that the continuation of partnerships between government agencies and the private sector represents a fundamental pillar for supporting the competitiveness of Egyptian agricultural products in global markets, and enhancing Egypt’s position as an important regional center in the trade of agricultural crops.
