Yesterday, the 2025 House of Representatives elections began in Menoufia Governorate amid a stable organizational atmosphere and strict procedures to ensure the conduct of the electoral process, after the governorate completed all its advance preparations and prepared the electoral headquarters.
The first day witnessed a notable presence from various age groups, but young people were the most prominent in the committees from the first hours, while the turnout appeared greater in the villages compared to the cities.
Major General Ibrahim Abu Laymoun, Governor of Menoufia, announced the day before yesterday that the degree of maximum readiness within various vital sectors and facilities had been raised, and that 500 electoral headquarters were prepared, including one general committee and 541 subcommittees that receive approximately 2 million and 973 thousand voters. The governor stressed continuous field follow-up and overcoming obstacles to ensure that the elections take place in a decent manner that reflects the awareness and keenness of the people of Menoufia to participate.
During the first day, the local units monitored the readiness of the committees in terms of lighting, water, ventilation, and providing waiting places for the elderly and people with special needs, in addition to raising the efficiency of cleaning and paving the roads leading to the committees. The presence of ambulances near the headquarters was also confirmed, with utility companies instructed not to cut off water or electricity and to deal immediately with any emergency malfunctions.
In light of the calm atmosphere that prevailed in the committees, the turnout in the villages was more active and clear, as the people were keen to participate extensively since the start of voting, while the cities recorded a varying attendance during the periods of the day, and the governorate called on citizens to continue positive participation today on the second day, in confirmation of their national role in supporting the democratic process.
