Change the location of the music player in the quick settings panel (notifications)

The first Android 11 Developer Preview rolled out on Thursday, and since then developers have been busy digging to find all the new features that Android 11 has to offer. A new feature has been spotted that brings the music player inside the “Quick Settings” in the notification panel.

This new feature seems to have been spotted in the Android 11 beta, and it may or may not make it to the stable version and Google is said to be testing a music player mode in the quick settings panel whenever you are listening to music.

The launcher originally appears in the notification panel area, and when users receive notifications from other apps, the launcher will be relegated to the bottom of the notification panel, often forcing users to scroll to the bottom of the notification panel to find it.

To eliminate this bad user experience, Google is testing moving the launcher to the quick settings panel. New changes were observed to shift the location of the player, where other shortcuts were shifted to the left side, while the other side was taken for the music player as in the image above.

The report says that Google is looking to make the music player always accessible to users. This feature is not enabled by default, so some may not see it even if it is present in the first Android 11 Developer Preview. Also, since it has been tested in the first preview only, there may be many changes made to it, before it is released in the latest stable build, or it may be stuck completely before the stable launch.
